Book of the Month: Space Friends Forever – Fun Activities for Little Explorers!

Hello, little adventurers!
Our Book of the Month is here, and it’s out of this world! Space Friends Forever is a fun and exciting space adventure featuring Hunny and Koko as they zoom through the galaxy and meet new friends. It's the perfect book for kids aged 3-7 who love space and adventure! To help your little ones learn and play along, we’ve put together some fun activities based on the story that will spark their imagination and teach them about space, teamwork, and friendship!

1. Float Like a Balloon – Learn About the Moon!

In Space Friends Forever, Hunny and Koko bounce around the moon in zero gravity! Let’s learn about what it’s like to float in space.

  • What You Need: A soft place to jump (like a bed or couch).

  • What to Do: Pretend you are floating in space, just like Hunny and Koko! Jump up and float back down slowly, pretending you’re on the moon. This activity is a fun way to introduce your child to the concept of zero gravity and moon exploration!

2. Teamwork Makes the Dream Work – Help Hunny and Koko!

In the book, Hunny and Koko help their alien friend Don fix his broken rocket. It’s a great example of teamwork!

  • What You Need: A puzzle or building set (like blocks).

  • What to Do: Work together with a friend, sibling, or parent to build something fun, like a rocket or spaceship. It’s a perfect opportunity to practice collaboration and show kids how working together makes tasks easier and more enjoyable.

3. Alien Art Time – Create Your Own Alien!

When Hunny and Koko meet Don, they discover that not all aliens look the same! Let’s make our own silly and creative aliens!

  • What You Need: Paper, crayons, markers, and stickers.

  • What to Do: Have fun drawing your own alien. What colors will your alien be? Does it have three eyes or six arms? This activity lets kids get creative and explore the idea of alien life in a fun and engaging way.

4. Space is HUGE – How Far is the Moon?

Hunny and Koko travel through space to reach the Galaxy Bash. Space is vast, and the moon is really far away!

  • What You Need: Paper, crayons, and space stickers (if available).

  • What to Do: Draw your own solar system and use your favorite toys to represent the planets. This activity helps children understand the distance between planets and gives a visual representation of our solar system.

5. Light Up the Sky – Talk with Blinking Lights!

In the story, Don shows Hunny and Koko how to communicate using blinking lights. Let's try it ourselves!

  • What You Need: A flashlight or glow stick.

  • What to Do: Use your flashlight to make secret light signals! One blink for “hello,” two for “goodnight,” and three for “I love you!” This teaches kids about the importance of communication and how light can be used to send signals.
